Everything about Hanmer totally explained

Hanmer is a village in the County Borough of Wrexham in north-east Wales.
   It lies on the northern end of Hanmer Mere, part of the 'Shropshire lake district' of meres which was formed by the last ice-age. Neighbouring villages include Penley, Horsemans Green and Arrowry.
   Until the reorganisation of Welsh local government in 1974, Hanmer was in Maelor Saesneg (English[-speaking] Maelor), the detached part of the old county of Flintshire.

Residents

  • Margaret Hanmer (d. of Sir David Hanmer), who married Owain Glyndŵr circa 1383 in Hanmer.
